In Chapter 6 on the Man In The Iron Mask of Dumas we see Philippe playing his role as King Louis XIV. When Philippe saw his mother he knew he couldn't hate her even if she did agree to imprison him. When Colbert saw him he was surprised that he didn't aresst Fouguet when he got an answer he left. Then his maother came and spoke to him but it was in spanish and Philippe didn't know how to speak the language. When he was about to answer Fouguet came but with the real King. When the mother saw King Louis and Philippe together she thought she saw a ghost. King Louis open the curtins and told his D'Artagnan " Look both of us in the face and said which of us his paler he or I. Which one of us had not seen the sun in 8 years ". D'Artagnan knew Philippe was the imposter by the palness. King Louis punishment for Philippe was to wear the iron mask Philippe took the punishment and Fouguet told D'Artagnan " This is much of a king as the other ".
